Back Porch- Stein Mansion, Suites & Bungalows
A kaleidoscope of pinks and oranges, this home is a color study. Part of our boutique vacation rental series in Fredericksburg, the unit includes a sitting room, bedroom and kitchenette.
Our design team doused the sitting room with energetic color, pairing marbled wallpaper with an equally vibrant rug from Morocco. Juxtaposing modern vintage with traditional antique, we layered the room with old-world fixtures — like a 19th-century Italian curule and federal mirror — and mid-century pieces, like the Milo Baughman coffee table and the marble chandelier.
With its sherbet hued vined wallpaper, the bedroom feels like a jungle at golden hour. We added euro shams in a classic tangerine print to draw out the warm orange color in the rug, and chose white bedding with red trim to accentuate the color red.
Over in the kitchenette, we furnished the space with a vintage table and chairs, hanging a bright cafe skirt for texture and vibrancy. We painted the floor, which had previously been plain concrete, with a sprightly checkered pattern.
We’re especially fond of the entryway, which greets guests with a “hello, goodbye” message reminiscent of an ouija board.
