Kitchen Remodel, Living Room Furnishings, Study and Dining Refresh
This sunny, inspired Austin home belongs to a married couple with three young boys. Seeking a more tied-together look, the client came to us with a few existing furniture pieces, an open mind, and an upbeat attitude.
With the aspiration of creating an upscale, dramatic space that was both colorful and cohesive, we added a thoughtful selection of bespoke furniture and antique artwork to the living room. The room had an existing bookcase that we extended to the ceiling, building an additional row of shelving and adding crown moldings and art lights at the top. On the bookshelves, we arranged eclectic artwork collected from vintage stores around Austin.
With the goal of anchoring and adding warmth to the living room, we brought in rug designed by Sarah and handmade in India. To fit the airy, sprawling space, we commissioned a 42-inch handcrafted nesting coffee table from Austin artisan Brian Chilton.
After gutting the kitchen, the team installed a sleek custom hood over the stove. We built towering, bold, black cabinets with beveled shaker-style doors and rails. Once finished, Sarah loved how the two contrasting styles of the sophisticated, black kitchen and the bright, vivid living room came together.
One of our favorite parts of the project? Working with the client, who — even when the project ran into a few pandemic-related delays — remained positive, cheerful, flexible, and a pleasure to work with.
