Walter Street - Austin, Texas
A Kitchen Remodel, Bathroom Remodel, Bookcase Design, Furnishings for the Living Room, Dining Room, and Breakfast Nook.
We achieved the gorgeous minimal maximalist style by focusing on colors, materials and form. Minimal design embellishments were carried out in the remodeling process to lend a polished and updated appearance. A custom bookcase following the form of the pitched ceiling was painted teal to further emphasize the interior architecture. We diamond polished the concrete to expose the aggregate, which ended up looking like terrazzo. Our method of color blocking and working tonally instead of pulling out colors from patterns served us well in pulling the whole space together.
We feel lucky for the opportunity to have had Rue Magazine publish this gorgeous project. Originally a 1980’s U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development home in East Austin, we polished this diamond in the rough until it sparkled in its minimal maximalist style.
