NORTHWEST AUSTIN
The Texas Hill Country begins in West Austin, where cliffs offer sweeping views over the Colorado River. This West Austin home reflects the region’s rocky terrain, drawing sepia and chestnut tones from the mottled limestone nearby. Fireclay tiles and hazel Taj Mahal waterfall countertops define the mid-brown palette, extending to a tawny velvet sofa that adds cohesion and depth. Custom pieces like a verdure-patterned headboard, floral shower curtain, and unique kitchen island fixtures enrich the color scheme.
Collaborating with architect Patricia Borowitcz and lighting designer Maria Morrissey of ATX Design Studio, we undertook a full remodel, relocating rooms and adding an outdoor space and office suite. The clients wanted durability, simplicity, and functionality, including a kosher kitchen with specialized elements like a wide parve sink. Blending modern and traditional pieces, we created a stylish, enduring haven that balances practicality with elegance.
